We are delighted to announce that the Irish Landscape Institute Lecture series will resume this month after the summer break. The September lecture will be given by Dr. Finola O’Kane Crimmins on the subject of Georgian Landscapes and the Georgian Society. The lecture is free and all are welcome. Please RSVP in order to secure your seat.
Dr. O’Kane Crimmins’ research covers designed landscape history in Ireland, with a particular interest in the cultural, philosophical and aesthetic dimensions of this history, and in the role of key individuals in modulating the physical and intellectual environment. Her first book: Landscape Design in Eighteenth-Century Ireland was awarded the inaugural J.B. Jackson Book Prize by The Foundation for Landscape Studies, New York in 2007. Her next book, Ireland and the Picturesque; Design, Landscape Painting and Tourism in Ireland 1700-1830 will be published in 2013 by Yale University Press. In 2013 Dr. O’Kane will embark on a research project entitled 'Revolutionary Landscapes; Ireland, France and America 1700-1810'
