Dublin's Future: New Visions for Ireland's Capital City, a new book edited by DIT real estate lecturer Lorcan Sirr will be launched today in the Society of Chartered Surveyors.
The book is a collection of essays which for the first time recognises that the future of the island's largest and most important urban conurbation is about more than engineering of roads and the colouring of development plans...music, literature, housing, ethnic minorities, theatre, energy, and much more all have their role to play in making and sustaining Dublin as an economic city and a place in which to live, visit and work. Contributors are from a broad-spectrum of fields; including DCU’s Ferdinand von Prondzynski, architect James Pike, Councillor Dermot Lacey, and landscape architect Deirdre Black. Lorcan Sirr is writing about cities. The contributors feel that the success of Dublin will ensure the success of the nation as a whole.
Special guest of honour at the launch will be the Lord Mayor, Councillor Andrew Montague.
