The GLDA have a workshop coming up that may interest anyone involved in running a garden design business or those contemplating forging a career in garden or landscape design. I would certainly be interested in hearing what Andrew Wilson has to say on the subject of the business of garden design. He is a long-established garden designer running a successful practice near London. Amongst his other credentials, he is founding Director of The London School of Garden Design and is also Chief Assessor of show gardens with the Royal Horticultural Society, yes that does mean the Chelsea flower show, etc. He is also lead judge at Ireland's Bloom in the park garden festival and my own show gardens have fallen under his scrupulous eye. Anyway, I would recommend any of Andrew's workshops.
When is it on? Saturday 19th November, 2011 10.30-4pm
Where? Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown, Co. Dublin

Garden design is the art and process of designing and creating plans for layout and planting of gardens and landscapes. Elements of garden design include the layout of hard landscape, such as paths, walls, water features, sitting areas and decking; as well as the plants themselves, with consideration for their horticultural requirements, their season-to-season appearance, lifespan, growth habit, size, speed of growth, and combinations with other plants and landscape features. Thanks.

Landscaping makes dull areas pleasing. It is possible to make ordinary homes into spectacular ones and office buildings into warm, livable spaces. Thanks a lot for such an interesting post.
