WHAT: I understand that playground design expert Harry Harbottle will talk about making playgrounds more human, natural and less safe for children! He will do this by discussing how the primary elements: fire, earth, air and water can be brought in to childrens' developmental play in positive and "safe" ways. Lecture extract "children, play and the elements." See other work by Harry @ www.childsafetyeurope.org

I an unrelated comment, I notice that if i click on a link in your posts it takes me away from your blog, I got some simple html code to make links open in a new window, so let me know if your interested in it and i will email you a quick explanation on how to do it.
ReplyDeleteFire is an interesting one. It seems all children are fascinated by fire yet few have opportunities to be near it. I hadn't thought of it in relation to play areas etc. before but it's something to think about.

Hi Lucy,
ReplyDeleteAgreed, its about being less detached from fire so that we know how to handle it safely. Look forward to further understanding as to what exactly what that would entail in regard to play spaces.
